All You Need to Know About Help To Buy
So, what exactly is Help to Buy?
The Help to Buy scheme is a government initiative that can unlock the door to your dream home. Here’s all you need to know...
You only need a 5% deposit
Saving for a mortgage deposit can sometimes seem relentless.
The large sums of money lenders require you to save upfront are often too big a sacrifice for many hopeful buyers, and simply unattainable for others.
This is where Help to Buy comes in.
Under the scheme, the government will give you an equity loan to help increase your initial deposit and reduce the amount you need to borrow from your mortgage provider.
Think it’s just for first time buyers? Think again.
Help to Buy is available to a lot more people than you think. Whether you’re thinking of stepping onto the property ladder or simply moving up it, the scheme could make purchasing your dream home a reality.
“ Save just 5% deposit and afford your dream home now ”
Only available on new build homes. Maximum house purchase £600k.
Find your feet
With a Help to Buy equity loan, you don’t just save up your deposit quicker. You also benefit from competitive mortgage deals, because you’re borrowing a smaller percentage of the property value from your lender.
This can keep your monthly costs lower, and home ownership more affordable.
When do I repay?
If you sell your home, you simply repay the government 20% of the resale value. If you don’t sell your home, you repay after 25 years, or when your mortgage term is up (whichever comes first).
You can also make payments sooner, if you wish.
